SPLENDOURS OF BHUTAN VALLEY FOR 12DAYS

Day 1 – Bangkok/Paro/Thimphu Meet your Bhutanese representative at Paro Airport. Paro is a picturesque valley with quaint clusters of hamlets amid terraced paddy fields. Although the site of the nation's first airport, Paro still retains tradition by way of architecture and farming. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, Refreshment will be served in town. Drive towards Thimphu. The drive towards Thimphu is around 2 hours drive and is 60 km from Paro Airport. Thimphu takes you along the Paro Chu (Chu means water or river) down stream to the confluence with the Wang Chu, then turn upstream and travel along the Wang Chu to Thimphu. Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan. Check in Hotel Druk. Lunch at Thimphu. After lunch Traditional art & craft Institute, where the art of paintings and sculpturing are well preserved, Textile Museum and Indigenous Hospital. Evening: Tea & Snacks Over night at Thimphu Druk Hotel.
Day 2 – Thimphu to Wangdi. Morning visit the weekend market( Friday ) and Depart for Wangdue; 3 hours leisurely drive over Dochula pass at 10,000ft and from the pass one can see the panoramic view of eastern Himalayan ranges. Descend to the fertile valley of Lobesa. Lunch at Wangdi, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimmi Lhakhang, devine madman’s monastery. Overnight at Dragon Nest.
Day 3- Wangdi to Bumthang. Late morning, drive towards Trongsa. The drive takes approx.5hours and trail climbs through semi tropical vegetation over Pele la 11,000ft, Descend through the open meadows of yak herder’s settlement till Chendebji Chorten. Lunch at Chendebji Restaurant. Walk around Chendebji Chorten. Continue your journey towards Trongsa and then to Bumthang. The drive continue east on your journey, through the heartland of Bhutan, to Trongsa. Transverse through dense conifer forests and hillsides covered with giant rhododendron and dwarf bamboo. Pass yongtong La pass 11,600ft. Enroute observe yathra weaving center at Zungey. Drive another ½ hour to Jakar. Night halt at Bumthang. Samten Khangsar Lodge.
Day 4- Bumthang.Sightseeing: Sightseeing includes Kurjey Lhakhang( Kurjey means the body print of Guru Rimpoche), Jambay lhakhang and Tasmshing Lhakhang. Evening visit Farm house. Overnight at Bumthang. Samten Khangsar Hotel.
Day 5- Day Excursion to Ura. After breakfast, drive towards membartso ( Burning lake ). Visit membartso and relax around there for a while. Later, hike up towards the largest nunnery in Bhutan. There are around 100 nuns there and you can contribute your charity here. Drive towards Ura for picnic lunch and evening drive back to Jakar. Night halt at Samten Khangsar Hotel. If you would like, you can book for stone bath for the evening.
Day 6: Bumthang to Trongsa: Drive from Bumthang to Trongsa. Visit Trongsa Dzong, one of the most impressive and masterpiece in architecture. Visit Ta Dzong, watch tower of the Dzong. Evening, explore Trongsa Town. Over night at Yangkhil Guest House at Trongsa.
Day 7: Trongsa to Phojikha. Drive to Phojikha early in the morning, Visit the famous monastery called Gantey Gompa( Pemalingpa’s famous Pilgrimage Lunch at Phojikha. Overnight at Gakiling Hotel.
Day 8 : Phojikha to Kyichu Resort Visit the Lower Secondary School at Phojikha. Visit the research center. Visit a typical farm house of Phojikha for a nice Bhutanese tea. Evening watch the cranes and drive towards Wangdi, to Kichu Resort. You will have enough time to explore Kyichu resort and it’s surrounding on your own. Some can take leisure walks; some can practice their yoga and meditate. Overnight at Kyichu Resort, Wangdi.
Day 9: Kyichu Resort to Thimphu. After breakfast stroll around at Kyichu Resort and after lunch visit Wangdi Dzong and drive towards Thimphu. Visit Tashichodzong and mini zoo to watch the Takins. Evening, talk on women & youth of Bhutan. Over night at Thimphu Druk Hotel.
Day 10: Thimphu Sightseeing/ Paro sightseeing: After breakfast, drive towards Paro for lunch. After lunch, visit the National museum "Ta-Dzong" used as the Watch Tower of the Paro Rinpung Dzong in the 17th century. It was converted into the National Museum in 1968. It is located on the top of a hill above the Paro Dzong overlooking Paro valley and the river. Visit Rinpung Dzong built in 1645 AD. This massive fortress is located in the Paro valley. Today, the Dzong houses the Administrative seat of the district of Paro and the monastic body. The central tower (Utse) of the Dzong is one of the fine examples of Bhutanese architect. Day 11: Paro sight seeing: Morning drive till the road head to Ramthangkha. Start your hike to Taktsang( Tiger Nest). Refreshment at the cafeteria from where you can see the monastery hanging on the cliff. As per the Legend, Guru Rimpoche, flew from eastern Bhutan on a tigress bringing Buddhist teachings to Bhutan. This is one of the most venerated and sacred sights for the Buddhist pilgrimage around the world and local people. Lunch at Taktsang Cafeteria. On the way back, visit Kyichu monastery, built in 7th century. If you wish, they can fix the famous stone bath. Stone bath is very famous in Bhutan. We use medicinal hot stone to hit water in a wooden tub. The hot stone will be thrown at one side of the long wooden tub and when the water gets hot, you may soak yourself in the hot water. Good way of relaxing your muscles. Night halt at Gantey Palace.
Day 12 - exit. TASHI DELEK: Bhutan Norphel’s representative will drop you till the airport. |
